Can I change the benefit allowance during the plan year?

Yes — mid-year benefit allowance changes are possible in some cases, but only for employers on flat rates.

What StretchDollar can do

• For flat-rate policies, our team can help adjust employee benefit dollar allowances during the plan year.
• You do not need to cancel your ICHRA policy to make this kind of change.

What we cannot do mid-year

• Mid-year allowance changes are not available for Smart Rates policies. Smart Rate setups need to wait for renewal / end of plan year for contribution redesign.

We generally recommend waiting until renewal when possible (cleaner for employees), but flat-rate mid-year updates are supported when your business needs them.
