I accepted the subsidy and my StrechDollar benefit. What do I do?

You cannot be enrolled in StretchDollar health benefits AND receive a premium tax credit (aka premium subsidy) from the federal government. 


If you accepted a premium tax credit AND your StretchDollar health benefit, you should take action to avoid a possible tax penalty at the end of the year.

Steps to remove premium tax credit

If you choose to accept your StretchDollar benefits instead of the premium tax credit, we recommend that you call your state's marketplace and work with them to have the tax credit removed. Explain to them that you are enrolled in an ICHRA (individual coverage health reimbursement account) offered through your employer and accidentally accepted a premium tax credit. Follow their instructions to remove the premium tax credit from your coverage.
