Someone else, or an employee, set up our account as the admin. How do I take it over?

Sometimes the person who first set up your StretchDollar account isn't the person who should manage it. For example, an employee, assistant or outside helper signed up for you. Here's how to make sure the right person is the admin.

If someone else is the admin instead of you

  1. Get added to the account. Ask the current admin to go to Employees and click Add Employee to add you. Only an admin can add people.
  2. Email us at support@stretchdollar.com from your work email with:
    • Your name and the email you were added with
    • The name of the person who's admin now
    • Whether they should keep admin access or have it removed
  3. We'll make you the admin, and remove the other person's admin access if you ask us to. We usually finish within one business day.

Account Setup and bank verification must use the real admin's information

To send money, StretchDollar works with Dwolla, a payment partner that has to verify your business and the person responsible for it. Every step in Account Setup must use the details of the true admin or business owner, not the employee or helper who signed up:

  • Admin Verification asks for the personal information of the person completing it: legal name, date of birth, Social Security number (or passport), job title and home address. Sometimes it also asks for a photo ID. This must be the owner or the leader who's responsible for the business.
  • Beneficial owners are anyone who owns 25% or more of the business. Add each of them and certify the ownership information.
  • Business verification and Bank Setup use your company's legal details and its own business bank account.

Haven't started Account Setup yet? Wait until you're the admin, then complete it yourself.

Did someone else already complete these steps with their own information? Tell us when you email. Their details need to be replaced with yours, and we'll work with Dwolla to update them. You may be asked to verify your identity.

Can't reach the person who set it up?

Email us anyway with your name, your role at the company, and the company name. We'll confirm a few details with you and help you get access.

If the admin login is yours but has someone else's name

If you set up the account and it shows another person's name, email us with the correct name and title. We'll update it for you.

Good to know

  • Removing someone's admin access doesn't remove them from the account. If they're your employee, they keep their own benefit.
  • If they shouldn't be on the account at all, you can deactivate them from Employees once their admin access is removed.
  • Every account needs at least one admin, so we'll always give you access before removing theirs.
