What happens if my reimbursement bank transfer fails or bounces?
StretchDollar reimburses you for eligible health insurance premiums by sending money from your employer's bank account to your bank account. StretchDollar does not send payments to your insurance company — you pay your carrier; StretchDollar only handles the reimbursement.
If a bank transfer fails or "bounces," that means the reimbursement deposit didn't complete successfully.
Why this might happen
- Your linked bank account in StretchDollar is outdated, closed, or incorrect
- Bank verification or account linking on either side needs to be fixed
- Your employer's bank account didn't have enough funds, or their bank blocked the ACH debit
What this means for your health coverage
You still need to pay your insurance carrier on time to keep coverage active
- A failed reimbursement does not pay your premium for you
- A failed reimbursement does not cancel your policy automatically
If you're waiting on a reimbursement for a binder payment or monthly premium, continue paying your carrier while StretchDollar and your employer resolve the bank issue. Or reach out to us at support@stretchdollar.com!
What you should do
- Log in to the Benefits Portal and confirm your bank account is connected and correct.
- Check your Reimbursements / Auto-Reimbursement status to see if the request is still pending.
- Tell your employer Admin that a reimbursement transfer failed, so they can check the company bank connection and funds.
- Contact support@stretchdollar.com if your bank details look correct and the issue continues.
Quick tip
Keep proof of coverage and premium payment documentation handy. Once the bank issue is fixed, your employer or StretchDollar support can usually help get a valid reimbursement re-processed.
